What is SEER
By Jafari Ecogreen
Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER), is most commonly used to measure the efficiency of a central air conditioner.
The higher the SEER, the more efficient the system.
SEER measures how efficiently a cooling system will operate over an entire season.
SEER is specifically used to calculate the efficiency of air conditioners, both central and room models.
- In technical terms, SEER is a measure of equipment the total cooling of a central air conditioner or heat pump (in Btu) during the normal cooling season as compared to the total electric energy input (in watt-hours) consumed during the same period
- SEER stands for “Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio.
- This is a measure of the energy efficiency of the air conditioning system. SEER ratings permit consumers to compare operating costs of various cooling systems and products.
- SEER = [Total Cooling Output Over the Cooling Season] / [Total Electrical Energy Input Over the Cooling Season]
