This is too good to be true. What’s the catch?

Frankly, there is no catch. No matter how you calculate it, over the lifetime of a new furnace or air conditioner, you’ll pay LESS by renting than by buying it upfront or even financing it. Click here to do the calculations yourself.
But that’s not all. When you buy, you’re making a large upfront payment. Just think of what you could do with the money if you didn’t have to sink it into a new furnace or air conditioner? Vacation anyone? And if you finance, you’ll end up needlessly paying interest on the loan or line of credit. And with either scenario, you will need to purchase a long-term maintenance plan and extended warranties…which can become a hidden monthly cost that slowly increase the REAL cost of your furnace.

What’s included in my monthly rental?

Lots! Aside from a brand new energy-efficient furnace or air conditioner, you will receive a FREE programmable thermostat, free standard installation, free 24/7 service. All maintenance is completely included. That means you don’t have to pay extra for so-called “protection plans”. We will do an annual cleaning and maintenance, and cover ALL parts and labour costs for repairs as a result of normal usage. We’ll even completely replace your furnace if it can’t be repaired. And there’s one thing we don’t include: A signed contract.

Don’t I need a “Protection Plan” or Extended Warranty?

No! Did you know that most manufacturers’ warranties expire after 5 to 10 years and they only cover the parts, not the labour? When you rent with I Choose Both…it doesn’t matter. We include FREE lifetime maintenance and FREE 24/7 repairs. We will cover ALL parts and labour costs for repairs as a result of normal usage. We’ll even completely replace your furnace if it can’t be repaired. You never need to signup for an expensive monthly maintenance plan or buy an extended warranty again. Oh, and if you do decide to buy or finance a furnace with another company, make sure you ask them exactly what their “Protection Plan” actually protects. Many homeowners discover that these plans have limitations and ‘spending caps’ that restrict the repairs they will actually cover. When you rent with us, you don’t need an extended warranty because you don’t own the equipment, and you don’t need a maintenance plan, because we’ve already included it.

How long am I locked into a contract for?

Zilch, zero, nada. There’s no signed contract, so you can leave anytime. Really. No asterisk.

How hard is it to get out if I change my mind?

It’s easy. Just one phone call is all it takes. If you decide not to continue with the I Choose both program – for any reason – just give us a call at 1-866-RELIANCE begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              1-866-RELIANCE      end_of_the_skype_highlighting and we’ll drop by and remove the rental equipment. All you pay for is the labour, that’s it! You can even buy the equipment at anytime for the fair market book value. It’s your choice. You’re never tied into a long-term contract, and we won’t make you jump through hoops to leave. Bonus: you won’t even have to make up any fancy excuses to leave…just say “I’ve changed my mind.”

Can you run that math past me again?

Happily. Most people only look at the upfront costs of their furnace or air conditioner. The reality is that most Canadians keep their furnace for about 15 years. Over those 15 years, it will need to be cleaned to maintain its efficiency, and repaired (most manufacturers only warranty their equipment for the first 5 to 10 years). So let’s do the math: cost of furnace @ $3,500 + annual cleaning @ $100 + an average of two repairs @ $500 each = $6,000. Now double that…because after 15 years you need to start all over again. That’s $12,000. Compare that to $7,198 to rent a furnace from us. On a furnace alone, you’ll save over $4,800. The savings increase when you factor in your monthly energy bill savings, plus generous government rebates!

I live in a townhouse/semi-detached. Can I get this?

Yes! As long as you are the owner of the property (and not a renter), you can join the I Choose Both rental program. We also have a special program for landlords and property managers that can deliver significant cost savings for multi-dwelling units.

My furnace is only a few years old. Can I benefit from this program?

Yes! Depending upon how old and efficient the existing furnace or air conditioner is, we can either replace the equipment entirely as part of a new rental program, or buy your equipment and rent it back to you. Either way you’ll save money by never having to pay for cleaning, maintenance or repairs again. And you’ll still be able to take advantage of some government rebates too!

Why is the furnace industry so messed up?

Oh, you noticed huh? The home comfort industry is an industry of compromise. If you had to buy a new furnace or air conditioner, you’d probably have to put off buying something else. But now you can choose both! You can get a new high-efficiency furnace AND keep that upfront cash in your pocket…to use any way you wish.

I’m moving soon. Is this for me?

Yes! Thanks to the generosity of current energy savings rebates, you can still energy retrofit your home, and pocket up to $2,745 in rebates when you rent a new energy efficient furnace or air conditioner. We’ll even help you apply for the rebates. Then, when you sell, the new owner can either take over your rental (just like what usually happens with rental hot water heaters), or they can make their own furnace arrangements and we’ll come and remove the equipment for the associated labour charges. Bonus: higher energy efficiency and lower energy costs will make your home much more attractive to potential buyers!

Does a rental still qualify for government incentives and rebates?

You bet it does! That’s one of the beauties about renting; it still qualifies for almost ALL of the government rebates and incentives…which makes it the ONLY option that can actually put you in an immediate cash flow positive position. If you buy, you’ll have to pay everything upfront, and then have to wait for your rebates and incentives to help offset it. But when you rent, you only need to pay the monthly rental fee…and then when you get your rebates and incentives you end up with more cash than what you actually started with.
